Michael Askjaer

Prior to joining KinneyMunro, Michael had more than 25 years of experience in the institutional asset management business, where he positioned strategic investment solutions for US corporate, public pensions, foundations and endowments. 

Most recently, Michael served as a Director in the Institutional Sales and Client Service group at Lazard Asset Management, working directly with plan sponsors representing Lazard’s broad range of investment capabilities in developed and emerging market equities, corporate debt, sovereign debt, and alternative investments.  Prior to Lazard, Michael was a Managing Director at BlackRock, in the Global Client Group working with institutional plan sponsors. He began his career with Barclays Global Investors in San Francisco.

Michael has held a variety of philanthropic positions, including serving as the treasurer of a local education foundation, helping transition the endowment to a socially responsible investment portfolio and implementing best practices.  

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the California State University, Fresno where he competed in track and field as a NCAA Division 1 decathlete, and was a member of the Danish National Team. He enjoys traveling, cooking, coaching, investing in real estate, and spending time with his wife Jennifer and their three sons.
